Requirements
All real estate licensees (principle brokers, associate brokers, brokers and property managers) renewing an active license must complete at least 30 hours of continuing education during the preceding two license years. As of January 1, 2011 all must be in one or more of the eligible topics as determined by the Oregon Real Estate Commissioner and set forth in the Oregon Administrative Rule 863-15-055.

However, for those renewing after January 1, 2011 they need  to include the new 3-hour Law and Rule Required Course (LARRC) as a part of their 30 hour CE requirements. For agents required to take the Advanced Real Estate Practices course, LARRC must be included within the course to be certified after January 1st 2011.

Licensees are to maintain their own records of CE using the Oregon Real Estate Agency recommended forms. Managing principal brokers will continue to maintain all Continuing Education records prior to January 1, 2011 for 6 years.

The ruling applies to real estate brokers, real estate principal brokers, and real estate property managers.

Courses
Oregon Real Estate License Law states that continuing education must be 'real estate oriented' and include 30 hours in eligible credits developed by the Commissioner. Courses related to personal skills such as time management, and routine meetings and luncheons cannot be considered real estate oriented. In order for a course to qualify for license renewal credit, the CE courses must be taken from a Certified Continuing Education provider. (OAR 863-020-0010)
